Independence Day celebration 2026

SDKY Gurukula Vidyalaya celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great patriotic spirit and enthusiasm. The celebration was a memorable occasion that brought together students, teachers and staff to honour the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and to celebrate the values of freedom, unity and national pride. The programme commenced with messages by a student and Management Committee member Mr. V V Bhadran and  hoisting of the National Flag by Mr. U S Devarajan followed by the National Anthem. The sight of the tricolour fluttering proudly in the morning breeze filled everyone with a deep sense of patriotism. Students and teachers stood together with pride and respect as the National Anthem echoed across the school campus. Students presented patriotic song that beautifully reflected their love for the country. The performance created an atmosphere of joy, pride and national spirit. The celebration concluded with a pledge to cherish our freedom, respect our national values and work together towards a better and stronger India. The programme was a fitting tribute to the countless heroes whose courage and sacrifice made our independence possible.

Investiture ceremony 2026

Investiture ceremony is a solemn occasion where the school entrusts its upcoming leaders with the roles and responsibilities. The school investiture ceremony was conducted on July 10, 2025.  The school election was conducted prior to the ceremony where the students were given a novel experience of casting their votes. The elected students were honoured with their respective badges.

Say No to Drugs, Choose Life

SDKY Gurukula Vidyalaya observed “International day Against drug abuse”  to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and promote a healthy lifestyle among students. Students presented a mime act and  dance themed around the initiative. Speech on “Operation Toofan” was delivered. A song and a tableau were presented together to convey a strong message against drug consumption and to avoid smoking.

Reading Day 2026

National Reading Day, dedicated to the Father of the Library Movement, P. N. Panicker, was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 19 June 2036. To mark the occasion, literary competitions such as poetry writing and essay writing were organized, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their creativity and literary skills.The special assembly featured speeches highlighting the importance of reading and book review presentations by students. A vibrant Character Parade, depicting famous literary characters, added colour and excitement to the celebration while bringing literature to life. The Principal addressed the gathering and conveyed the significance of Reading Day, encouraging students to cultivate the habit of reading. A melodious group song based on the theme of reading captivated the audience and added to the spirit of the occasion. The celebration successfully inspired students to appreciate the joy of reading and the value of books in enriching knowledge and imagination.

Seeds of Sustainability

SDKY Gurukula Vidyalaya observed World Environment Day on June 5 , 2026 in association with Federal Bank, Eroor.  The programme began with the handing over of a sapling to the Principal, symbolising a shared commitment to environmental conservation. An environment pledge was administered, followed by a dance performance, a quiz competition, and an exhibition of placards highlighting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  The programme concluded with the distribution of seeds to the students by the Federal Bank team, encouraging them to nurture a greener and more sustainable future.

A Sparkling Start to Learning

The LKG Vidyarambham Ceremony at SDKY Gurukula Vidyalaya was held on 3rd June, 2026 with great joy and enthusiasm.  The programme was inaugurated by Mr. M.R. Yatheendran, Chairman, Education Board, who lit the ceremonial lamp and delivered the inaugural address, inspiring the young learners on their educational journey.

The occasion became even more memorable as lighted lamps were presented to the children, symbolising the light of knowledge. The cheerful mascots Mickey Mouse and Fluffy the Blue Fox warmly welcomed the little ones, filling the atmosphere with excitement and delight.

The gathering was welcomed by KG Coordinator Mrs. Rajeswari Venkat in the presence of the Principal, Vice Principal, and Primary Coordinator Mrs. Dhanya Ajay kumar, marking a bright and promising beginning for the newest members of the school family.
